Measure your counter's width and depth before you choose, and leave room for the tap and for your elbows on both sides.
Counter Height for a Table-Top Basin
Because the basin sits on the counter, it adds its own height (about 4.5 to 6.5 inches for Ruhe models). Most adults find the basin rim comfortable at 800 to 850 mm (about 31.5 to 33.5 inches) from the finished floor, so keep the counter lower than you would for a regular basin.
Which Tap Goes with a Table-Top Basin?
A regular pillar tap is too short for a basin that sits on the counter. Use one of these:
- A tall body pillar tap, for cold water only
- A tall body single lever basin mixer, for hot and cold water (see Basin Mixers)
- A wall-mount basin mixer, fixed in the wall above the basin
What Else You Need
- A hole in the counter for the waste, and a hole for the tap if it is a tall body tap or mixer
- A pop-up waste coupling
- A bottle trap, which connects the waste to the drain and stops sewer smell
- An angle valve and connection pipe for the tap

Care
Clean with mild soap and a soft cloth. No acid, bleach or scrubbing pads. In hard-water areas, wipe the basin dry after use to keep water spots away.
